Vivian and Arch's comic gets picked up, but Sophie also gives Viv a reality check in the process, which leads to her coming out to Aunt Jodie. After a bit of explaining to a rather confused Aunt Jodie, Vivian lays it on her with a gutsy "I'm gay. We're gay. We're gay together". Aster is thrilled to hear this at first, but then when she realizes it was Sophie who convinced Vivian to do it she's a little unnerved. Trouble in paradise?

This is just a great line and Rachel's delivery is fantastic :D

Also, earlier in the episode Jessie/Sophie calling Viv out is perfect.

I'm not entirely sure what it is, but there's something exceptionally powerful in how the coming out scene (above and beyond what you'd normally expect for such a weighty subject) is portrayed. Can't help but see the scene and go "Wow". Mad credit to Tina and Susan for compiling something so real, and to Rachael for the precise acting. The emotion of the scene is conveyed so well by all parties.

Special note to my favorate part of the scene: Viv's recoil to Aunt Jodie thinking she wants stamps is brilliant. In that instant you have no doubt Viv is on the precipice of spilling the beans - the emotional conflict with wanting to run and hide is written all over her face.

I definitely agree. It's probably one of the most compelling, as well as one of my favorite, scenes in the entire series. The acting is spot on, the content is great. It's just phenomenal all around.

i think Sophie was kind of hard on Vivian at least she is coming out to everyone in school first . but not telling her aunt Jodie that she is gay was wrong. i think Vivian was afraid of what her aunt might think of her. when Vivian told her aunt that say was gay aster and her was gay i think Aunt Jodie had her of her life. then Vivian told aster that she told her aunt Jodie that she was gay after Sophie sayed something to made her tell her aunt . Aster was not happy to hear that i think aster wanted Vivian to tell her aunt on her own time not when someone tell her about it

^ Vivian is very much concerned about how Aunt Jodie/people at large will respond to the knowlage she is gay - she's stated as much in "girl talk" to Sophie. Perhaps Aunt Jodie had a right to know, but that fact makes devolving no less terrifying, so it's understandable why she took so long to do so.
