2.1 – The Real Thing

In the aftermath of the trip to the city at the end of S1 there are a series of unexpected encounters in the halls and bathrooms of Clarence High. Secret longings and desires come to the surface along with more than a few insecurities. Things remain unsaid between Sophie and Vivian as well as Elisabeth and Josh, however their thoughts betray them. Just what will this season bring them? Dare we hope…wedding bells?

2.2 – Quickly, to the Exits

Fire alarms are ringing but no one seems to be in any rush to get to where they need to be. Vivian appears to make a new friend in the halls. Elisabeth still hasn’t managed to find Archibald and Sophie still hasn’t spoken to Vivian about what she saw in the city.

2.3 – Identity Crisis

Struggling to define himself since the move to Westchester, Gabe enlists Aunt Jodie’s help to prepare him for some prospective jobs. Upstairs Vivian and Sophie finally talk about Vivian being gay and what that exactly means before a familiar face shows up. Just what is behind those lingering looks from Sophie?

2.4 – Girl Talk

Aster is keeping a meeting with another woman secret from Vivian, she has nothing to worry about however. Dr Glass (special guest star Liza Weil) has been enlisted to help Aster through her parents’ divorce, and though slow to open up at first, Aster appears to warm to her. Following last week’s revelation Sophie and Vivian spend some time together over coffee.

2.5 – One Step Forward, One Step Back

Principal Dennis continues to give Archibald a hard time in order to use him to find out what’s going on with the students of Clarence High. The snow provides Jonathan with an opportunity to attempt friendship with Sophie. Aster makes another appearance in Westchester and she and Vivian share one of the sweetest moments of the season.

2.6 – The Things We Know

Another session with the wonderful Dr Glass provides Aster with the opportunity to talk about her relationship with Vivian and we’re given a glimpse into her insecurities. Sophie makes a confession in a hushed conversation. Archibald and Vivian decide to embark on a writing adventure and develop their own comic strip for the school newspaper in an attempt to save the world. Gabe and Aunt Jodie both have blind dates leaving Vivian home alone…but not for long.

2.7 – Date Night

Everyone’s going to the movies. Jonathan and Sterns discuss Sterns’ current crush whilst Archibald and Elisabeth go on their first date. Aster’s spending more and more time in Westchester and meets Jamie, Sophie’s new friend. A few too many shared answers with Sophie leaves Aster wondering exactly what part she played in Vivian’s life pre-VivSter.

2.8 – Naming Things

Vivian tells Sophie about her planned venture into comic strip writing and gets an unexpected reaction that gives her reason to think. In a long awaited moment Vivian finally opens up to Aunt Jodie, and though her reaction is not overwhelmingly positive it is understandable. Excited to tell Aster the news Vivian heads to the city, only Aster’s reaction is unexpected too to everyone except Vivian. Previous confessions come back to make us all wish Vivian chose her words more wisely.

2.9 – Private Rooms and Public Spaces

A visit to Gabe’s old fire house results in a confrontation between him and Aunt Jodie. Aster decides it’s time to introduce Vivian to Dr Glass, hopefully she’ll be able to help sort things out between the two of them after Vivian’s recent case of foot-in-mouth. An unexpected arrival brings an even more (un)expected revelation and leaves even Aster speechless.

2.10 – Curtain Up

Archibald rallies the gang to help with rehearsals for ‘The Seagull’ when the cast and crew are taken ill and Elisabeth begins to panic. However, a mis-heard conversation leaves Archibald doubting the person he believed Elisabeth to be. The comic strip is finally ready for print and we wait to see the reaction of Archibald and Vivian’s fellow classmates to the lesbian reporter character. Everyone’s there to help Elisabeth with her rehearsal, including Aster. What happens when Sophie and Vivian run through the scenes on stage will leave everyone aghast, but it is Aster’s subsequent actions that will draw the battle lines between Team Aster, Team Vivian, and Team Sophie in the shocking S2 finale.
